But you can't make the sharp ,sharp turns! A deep driver This is a simple wheel, just a wheel and 2 pedals. However, it is effective enough to win games. I like it, because it helps me to get score and medals, cars. The rubber handle is soft and fit to palms. Longer you play, more you like it. Foot pedals are O.K., but not heavy enough. It slips, but is acceptable. racing wheel this wheel is great. the only problem i have with it is that it has a big deadzone. works on every racing game i own. takes a long time to get used to. recomend starting with it. ... Read more Customer Reviews The Greatest Light Gun of them all!!! There have been a number of clumsy guns created for playstation in the last few years that ony worked with specific games and systems and requirements, but this game works with every kind of game I've tried both on PS and PS2 and is simply hours of fun on an arcade game like Time Crisis2 and the Time Crisis and a number of other great games that will truly be fun once you get this gun, the only problem is that it's very hard to find and get a hold of, one day it's their the other second it's gone. SO when you see..this baby up for sale you hop on the chance. great fun it is so much more fun using this on silent scope than using the plain old controller. Logitech Driving Force Wheel by Logitech Price: US$99.99 Average Customer Review: Electronics Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Description From Office Depot WHEELS W/PEDALS USB PORT CONN CABLE ... Read more Customer Reviews A unique wheel, but not the best there is I've recently tried this wheel controller. I own a PS2 that came with GT3. This controller works well with "Gran Turismo 3 A-spec" and "Test Drive Off-Road: Wide Open", but it doesn't work with any of the PlayStation1 games, and it doesn't work with many PlayStation2 games. This is the main problem with this controller. Very few games support it. Even very popular PS2 games like "Crazy Taxi" and "Extreme G3 Racing" don't support this controller! If you want a controller that works with all your PS1 and PS2 racing games then don't get this controller. However if you want a wheel with "Driving Force Feedback" this controller is your only choice. "Driving Force Feedback" is a nice concept. Its not the same as the simple vibration found in most PlayStation controllers. With "Driving Force Feedback" you can feed the wheel turn against you, fighting you as you attempt to turn. This effect is done using motors in the wheel that can turn the wheel right or left to simulate certain driving conditions. It sounds nice, and it might be nice if it was done right. But in this wheel the effect is not very realistic. I find the simple vibration effect in other wheel controllers to give a more realistic feel. In comparing the Logitech Driving Force Wheel with another popular wheel, the Mad Catz MC2 Racing Wheel, which is half the price, and the Interact Blue Thunder Racing Wheel which is about 3/4 the price, I've come up with the following comments: 1) The Logitech's feel isn't realistic. Its too loose and grainy feeling. I've never driven a car that feels the way this wheel feels. The other two wheels have a much more smooth realistic feel to them. 2) The Logitech's "driving force feedback" feature is very rough feeling. Its not very realistic, and its quite annoying. I find it better to use the controller with this feature turned off. The other wheels do not have this feature. But it isn't missed. 3) The Logitech controller's directional pad and X, O, triangle and square buttons are easily pressed accidentally while driving, because they are too close to the wheel's edge. The Mad Catz controller doesn't have this problem at all. The Interact Blue Thunder Racing Wheel has this problem a little with the placement of the L1, L2, R1 and R2 buttons. But you can remap them to different buttons if it becomes a problem. You can not do this on the Logitech Wheel. 4) The Logitech's controller doesn't work with any PS1 games and very few PS2 games, while the Mad Catz and Blue Thunder controllers work with every game I've tried, they even work better for "Gran Turismo 3 A-spec" than Logitech's does. They feel more realistic (even though there is no "Driving Force Feedback" effect). 5) The vibration effect of the other controllers is more realistic than the effect found in Logitech's controller. 6) Logitech's controller did not work all the time. Sometimes the PS2 would fail to see it, other times it wouldn't work right. Sometimes the buttons are hard to press in some games ("Test Drive Off-Road: Wide Open"). I had to reset my PS2 several times before it worked right. There are definitely bugs in the controller. The other controllers always worked great. 7) There is no stick shift on Logitech's controller. The Mad Catz controller and the Blue Thunder controller both have a stick shift. 8) You cannot remap the buttons on the Logitech's controller. The Mad Catz controller lets you remap all its buttons except the foot pedals. The Blue Thunder wheel lets you remap everything including the foot pedals. 9) The Logitech controller's foot pedals are VERY NICE. Better than any other one's I've used. The Mad Catz controller's foot pedals are not very realistic but give good reaction and have a wide range of analog activity. Both pedal sets work about the same. The Blue Thunder wheel's pedals seem to have a smaller range of analog activity. 10) Logitech's controller cannot work like a normal analog or digital controller making it incompatible with most PS2 games and all PS1 games. The Mad Catz controller can work as a standard analog controller with digital buttons or a digital controller, and as a wheel controller, allowing it to work with all PS1 and PS2 games. The Blue Thunder can work both as a digital controller and a complete analog controller, allowing it to work with all PS1 and PS2 games. 11) All three wheels have analog wheels and analog foot pedals. The Logitech's buttons are all analog. The same is true for the Blue Thunder when in analog mode. The Mad Catz controller has only digital buttons even when the wheel and pedals are in analog mode. 12) You cannot configure anything in the Logitech wheel unless your game has a setup screen made specifically for it. The Mad Catz and Blue Thunder wheels allow you to program all the buttons and set the wheel's sensitivity using setup buttons on the controllers. The Blue Thunder will remember its settings even when unplugged. The Mad Catz wheel lets you set the min and max positions in the wheel. The Blue Thunder lets you program the foot pedals. 13) Only the Blue Thunder Wheel's colors match the colors of the Sony PS2 and its Sony controllers. Logitech's controller is good but it needs a few things modified and a few features added to it to make it worth the price. After all it is twice the price of the Mad Catz controller, but has less features, works with only a few games, and lacks a stick shift. For twice the price I expect: re-mapable buttons, analog and digital controller emulation, compatibility with all PS1 and PS2 games, a stick shift, and buttons placed in an area where you can't accidentally hit them. Until Logitech can come up with a better version of this controller I recommend buying one of the other wheels. Wheels can be tricky..this one's great!!! Often times, switching to a driving wheel from a regular controller can seem strange. You connect a wheel controller to your computer or console, and you expect it to FEEL exactly like driving. Let's face it, that's a tall order. But the Logitech Force Feedback wheel is REALLY good. I just purchased Gran Turismo 3 for Playstation 2, and this wheel works great with it. Compared to other wheels, this one doesn't oversteer and you get to use the whole range of motion, rather that just being able to use a small arc of the steering wheel's movement. The feedback feels accurate, when the car slides you feel a loss of traction - when it bites, you feel it. I'm going back to racing now... Great Wheel - Buy the red PC wheel if you can't get this one I couldn't find the PlayStation wheel anywhere so I picked up the red WingMan Force Feedback wheel for the PC at EBX and it works perfectly. This may give some hope to those GT fans who want the wheel but cannot find one (it appears that Logitech is no longer making the blue wheel for PlayStation) Trust me, it works! I bolt mine to the dinette table and put the pedals on the floor and camp out right in front of the TV. It beats the arcade by a long shot. The wheel itself is amazing. The rolling resistance, scuffing around corners, and the transition between road surfaces (from asphalt to gravel) are incredibly articulated. I found my game performance dramatically improved after ditching the DualShock for the wheel. It is a worthy successor to my favorite driving controller for the PS1, the NeGeCon (anybody have one of those?) If you are a driving fan, grab the Logitech Wingman for the PC. It works great. Also, it works perfectly on the PC, unlike the PlayStation wheel, which for some reason doesn't deliver force feedback when on the PC. ... Mad Catz Dream Pad by Mad Catz Accessories List Price: Price: You Save: US$24.99 US$5.29 US$19.7 (79%) Average Customer Review: Electronics Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Customer Reviews What the Sega pad should've been This is currently the best of the Dreamcast handheld controllers available. The most significant improvements are the larger, wider grip, which reduces wrist stress, and the rubberized control surfaces, which reduces friction fatigue and allow greater playtime endurance. The 2 extra buttons as digital counterparts for the analog triggers also come in handy, depending on the game. Only 2 complaints. The rubber on my oldest pad (I have two of these now, in addition to the two Sega pads) has started to shed. However, it's very minor and you can just blow it off when you're done. Also, the location of the reprogramming button makes it too easy to hit accidentally while playing, but once you learn it, you can quickly undo any accidental button remapping. (Actually, I don't see a good use to have a button reprogramming function, since the games themselves usually allow plenty of button reconfiguration.) Otherwise, great pad. I don't even use my Sega pads anymore. I save them to ambush people I don't like . Trust me, this is the pad to have. A Supurb Controller I bought the Dreampad becuase of it's looks and its large bag of tricks, and boy am I impressed. For beginners, I did not expect the rubber grips to be of any use, they are. The side rubber pads are actually comfortable! In addtion, the rubber surfaced analog joystick is the best idea to hit game controllers. I also love the extra Z & C buttons, and all the buttons are bigger and have a softer feel than the standard SEGA version. However, there are some small details that need not be over looked. I know that alot of reviews cover these points better, but they don't put them all together in a list. For starters, the D-pad (no matter how great of a fit) is a little iffy, it's fine through most game play but an annoyance in menu selecting. Then I found the triggers to become almost harmful. The trigger and the case around the trigger cuase sores on the fingers due to rubbing. The reprogram button gets in the way and sometimes is inoperative on some games. I may be the only one, but to me the start button is out of reach. Finally, the Z & C buttons could be confused for Y & B if one was not looking. Dispite the minor cons, the MadCatz Dreampad is the best Sega controller on the market so far. The best of a limited choice for fighting fans The major qualm I had with the Dreamcast when I first saw it was the standard controller. I like the analog control and the feel overall of Sega's' standard controllers, but the limited number of buttons angered me immediately. Any one who enjoys Capcom's Street Fighter series can understand my frustration. When I saw Madcatz Dreampad, I was elated to see that a company had met my need for six buttons! That is about the only good this controller has going for it though. The large size of the controller is the first problem, if I wanted something so cumbersome I would have bought an arcade stick. The rubber-padded directional and analog control are difficult to use. By using the Dreampad with Marvel vs. Capcom one gains a six-button layout but sacrifices the ability to easily pull off complex controller motions. The L and R buttons do not respond well, when I used the Dreampad on Midways' Hydrothunder I could not perform jumps, and many times was unable to use my boost. I do still use this controller for six button games, but if I am playing anything else, I stick with Sega's standard pad. ... Read more Customer Reviews No More Untangle This new controller is excellent. Well actually, there's nothing new about it. It's the same old controller as the plain one. The only differnece is that it's blue! That's a good thing. Have you ever had your wires tangled up and you can't tell the difference between player 1 and player 2 and player 3 and player 4 because all the controllers are identicle? Well now that if you have 1 blue and 1 plain, it's easy to tell! Plus you'll probably will like the wonderful colors. So if you don't want to untagle wires or if you like the colors on your dreamcast, then buy this controller. My personal opinion, this is the best DC standard controller People always tell me that "the Sega Dreamcast controller ...", but they've only looked at it. It doesn't look like it'd be that useful, but it's VERY well put together. They're rather sturdy, and perfect for almost any type of game. Note - I said "almost".. fighting games absolutely [are not the best] with this controller. Which is a shame, given that the Dreamcast is THE fighting game machine. Given that, it still gets five stars - very comfortable to hold, buttons are all easy to reach, you don't have to pound them to make it respond, and on top of that, the blue is just too cool to resist. :) Sega blue controller very good...cool color...vendor shipped UPS...classy ... Read more Customer Reviews Works fine for GT3 on PS2 Just got this wheel, plugged right in and worked FINE with Gran Turismo 3 on my PS2. It does take some getting used to a wheel versus a controller for the game. I highly recommend getting the wheel at the same time as the game, and learn the game with the wheel. (I also recommend learning on one of the slower cars...) The adjustable sensitivity works great. One minor complaint, though I'm learning to avoid the problem: during hard cornering/steering you can inadvertantly hit one of the L1/L2/R1/R2 buttons and change screen views. This is a little annoying (and disruptive, especially if it causes you to slow down and get passed!) but after a day or two you'll learn to avoid the problem. Not Remotely Realistic I have to agree with the review titled "Any Car That Drove Like This Would Never Be Bought." While I thought the pedals were acceptable, the steering itself was horrendous. It claims to have "multiple sensitivity levels" but the three that it comes with are "way too insensitive" (you steer and nothing happens), "unacceptable" (waaaay too much dead space in the center of the steering) and "wild oversteer" (you can look sideways at the wheel and do cookies). It also didn't help that there's actually a sort of "notch" at the center steering position that the wheel snaps back to. If you just want to steer a little, you end up oversteering when you pull it out of the center position "notch." The positioning of the wheel was highly adjustable, though, and could be put into a comfortable position wherever you wanted it, so I have to give 'em points for that. And the fact the pedals stayed pretty much stationary on the ground. But that's all. I'd hold out for the GT Force wheel - I've tried the PC version Logitech put out and it's MUCH better. GOOD it is great it has a good level of sensitivity and it is comfertable to use(works great on grand torismo3) ...
